Hello all,

My name is Harold Moots, but I go by Jerry, so please call me Jerry. I am married and reside in San Diego California. I have three kids, all grown, and seven grand kids, still growing, all who live in the southern California area.

I currently work for Sikorsky Support Services Incorporated, or as they are better known, “Triple SI” (SSSI). I am a field service tech rep supporting the Marine Corps CH53E Super Stallion helicopters at MCAS Miramar. I have been doing this since January 1999 and love it. I guess the reason why I love it so much is because I am a retired Marine of 23 years, 8 months and 16 days, but who’s counting? I was a CH53A/D/E knuckle dragging flight line mechanic (6113 MOS), as well as a Crew Chief. So that meant I not only got to fly in the aircraft, but with my high school education I got to fix what the college boys broke! Before I retired I was the Maintenance Chief of HMT-301 training squadron stationed in Kaneohe Bay Hawaii. What a great place to have your twilight tour!

I really enjoyed the CSCI-109 course and I am sure I will enjoy this course just as much. Computers, computer technology and software applications have always intrigued me. Why work harder when the computer lets you work smarter! This will be my fourth online class at ERAU in an attempt to get my AS degree in Aviation Maintenance Technology and maybe even my A&P certification. Once that is done maybe I will pursue a BS degree in Aviation Maintenance Management, or Professional Aeronautics. At my age, I guess once I get all of these degrees I am pursuing, I will be the most educated door greeter at the local Wal-Mart!

Good Luck and Best Regards

Jerry Moots

My special likes and interests include but are not limited to sports, gardening and yard work, and NASCAR racing! I also enjoy building plastic model kits in my spare time, when it is not consumed with school work or my grand kids.

From February through the third week in November, I am a true NASCAR fanatic and try to watch, or at least record all the Nextel Cup, Busch, and Craftsmen truck races on TV. My favorite driver is Mark Martin because he exemplifies what a true racer should be and is probably the best darn race car driver never to have won a NASCAR Championship.

Football and baseball are two of my favorite team sports. I especially like following my old high school football team, the Centerville Elks, and of course the Ohio State Buckeyes. My old high school team has made it to the state playoffs once again and it appears that the Buckeyes are destined by fate to play for the top spot in college football again this year. Of course they will need to get by Illinois and of course their arch revivals to the north, the Michigan Wolverines. Saturday November 10th was not a good day for Ohio football. Both the Buckeyes and my Elks went down to defeat in the same day! I guess there is always next year.

When it comes to baseball, I must say I have become a home town San Diego Padres fan. I was able to attend a Padres game this past summer at their new Petco Park. What a beautiful stadium. It appears that starting picture Jake Peavy his headed for his first of hopefully many National League Cy Young awards. When I was stationed at Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) Santa Ana (LTA), and then later Tustin after it was renamed, I followed, and still do to this day, the California Angels. Of course their team name has changed a few times over the years and they are now know as the "Los Angeles Angles of Anaheim!"

When I have some free and quiet time to myself, I like to dabble in building plastic model kits. This is something my father started me on many many years ago. My father was an avid modeler and built many of wooden flyable airplanes. I love to build of all things, replica NASCAR race cars! I wonder why? I also have a love and passion for model aircraft. I am currently building a 1/48 scale plastic model of the Sikorsky CH-53E aircraft manufactured by the Academy Model Corporation. The model displayed on the website is not mine, but I hope mine will look just as good when it is finished.

Last but not least is my love of gardening and yard work. There is something about being able to make something grow, or turn something form brown to green which is very satisfying to me. One of my TV shows to watch on the weekends is "Gardening by the Yard" with Paul James the Gardening Guy! I have learned quite a bit from that show which I have applied to my own yard and gardens. Plus he just cracks me up.

This was my granddaughters birthday present that I make for her. She loves the Chargers and "LT" #21 and of course what girl would not love to have a 2007 Mustang GT? I call this the 2007 Mustang "LT" version. :-)
